Who doesn’t dream of owning a candy store? In 2018 that dream became a reality when The Calandra Family purchased Sweet Julep’s. A former school teacher, Amy Calandra left the education field to become an entrepreneur. Building businesses quickly became her passion.
Sweet Julep’s was established in 2002 by Julie Righetti. When Amy met Julie and began to learn about the business, it was a match made in heaven. The transition of ownership took place in 2018 and while the store changed hands, the heart and soul of Sweet Julep’s remained the same. The founding principles of loving kindness, community involvement and providing only the best products and experiences for our customers remain the core of the business today.
With the help of a dynamic staff and supportive family, Amy has been able to focus her attention on growing the Sweet Julep’s brand to a national level by incorporating an online retail store, partnering with brands such as Amazon & Etsy and designing membership programs. When Amy is not thinking about sweets, she is busy enjoying her family and counting her blessings for the sweet life that God has given her. She enjoys volunteering in the community, loves church and Sunday dinners with her family, watching her youngest son (Caleb) play rugby at the Naval Academy and spending time with her oldest son (Colton) and his fiance’ (Zoe).
